Hola : ) mi nombre es Esmeralda!
And now for my English readers… Hey : ) my name is Esmeralda! Lucky for all of you, I am more comfortable writing in English than Spanish.
My parents are Colombian immigrants and I am the first-gen born in the good ole U. S. of A’s. I’m both bilingual and bicultural. So keep that in mind as this page will incorporate parts of what I call Spanglish.
I am part of a DINKWAD household. DINKWAD as in dual income no kids with a dog.
This is my pride and joy – Ivy.
I got her as small pup in 2019. My freshly two-weeks-into-dating boyfriend drove me a few hours to go pick her up. She was $30. The smallest of the litter that liked running in a circle, as her siblings chased her, and stopping at my feet.
Fast forward two years later, after a global pandemic and beginning the journey that is grief, there I am graduating college with my girl at my side.

Remember that two-weeks-into-dating boyfriend?
Well, we did long distance (1,659 miles to be exact) and then we moved in together. Now, we work steps from each other everyday.
I often can’t help, but smile when I realize my younger self didn’t dream big enough. I am, however, going to do my best to live beyond her wildest dreams.
Life is raw. It will cut you open like a knife and it wont always be smooth edges. It’s exhilarating, beautiful, and real. Let’s make it count.
